Sometimes, we make too much change to our environment. We introduce plants and animals from other places that compete with our native species or cause illness. We release pollutants to the atmosphere that artificially change weather patterns and throw life cycles out of kilter. We leave pockets of bushland in residential suburbs so small that animal populations become cut off from each other. All these things have knock-on effects for us. We need the insects to pollinate our crops, the waterbugs to keep the streams and creeks clean and the weather to sustain breeding and feeding cycles of our animals. Every little thing matters.
